Working Principle of Automobile EGR Valve

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system is a system used to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from internal combustion engines. The operating principle of the EGR valve is to recirculate some of the engine's exhaust gas, allowing it to return to the engine intake pipe and participate in the combustion process. Therefore, the oxygen content in the fuel mixture will decrease, resulting in a decrease in combustion temperature and a significant decrease in the concentration of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the exhaust gas. Under normal circumstances, the failure of the EGR valve is mostly caused by carbon accumulation and blockage in the channel. The specific operation method is as follows:

(1) If cleaning the EGR valve, it is recommended to use carburetor cleaning agent for operation. Clean the carbon deposits on the EGR valve, throttle valve, and intake channel.

(2) If the cleaning of the EGR valve is ineffective, it is recommended to replace it with a brand new one to avoid affecting the normal operation of the engine.
